I am so excited for October to be here. I love Halloween and there are so many fun things to do with the kids (and without) that it makes me all the more anxious for it to get here. Now, I am one of those people that gets a little annoyed when I see Halloween stuff out the day after the 4th of July. I love the holiday, but I just think that it should start happening when the actual month gets here. So that is why I have waited til today to post about Halloween events. I don’t want to jump the gun like the stores do. Some of these places I have been to and others are ones that I want to check out. I hope you’ll find my reviews of the ones I have been to helpful, and if there is one that you have been to that I haven’t I would love to know your take on it!
Wheeler Farm– September 30 – October 31
Monday—Thursday 11AM to 8PM
Friday—Saturday 11AM to 9PM
October 31st – 11AM to 4PM
Admission: $10, children under 2 free with paying adult
Review: I really enjoyed coming here with my kids last year. My kids always love to see to see the animals and they had a lot to do for what you paid. I really liked the maze as it wasn’t too hard for my kids, and the wagon ride was lots of fun. The had some hay barrels piled up in one of the bars and my kids had a blast on those. They would have played all day on those if I let them. You also get a free pumpkin, so make sure you have something to tote those things around in!
Fear Factory– September 30- November 1 (not open Sundays)
Monday- Thursday 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Friday – Saturday 7:00pm – midnight
General Admission: $25, VIP Admission: $35 (plus other combos and add ons)
Review: Its been a while since I have been to Fear Factory and due to me being pregnant for the past 2-3 Halloweens, I haven’t been able to go since. But when I went last I had a great time! I feel that it is long enough to get your moneys worth and there are a lot of cool features I haven’t seen in other Haunted House- like a big twirly slide you get to go down! They have a zip line as well which I would love to do and for $3 extra dollars you can do the “Touch of Fear” where the actors are allowed to touch you.
Witches Night Out at Gardner Village – October 14, 15, 28, 29
6:00pm – 10:00pm
Admission: FREE! Parking: $10
Review: I love coming to Gardner Village and I always get my kids dressed up (I have yet to dress up myself, maybe this will be the year). Its free to attend but you pay for things while you are there like food, shops an events. You can enter into the witch costume contest, and if you don’t feel like entering, its always fun to watch. If you come on a night other than Witches Night Out then there is the petting zoo that it always fun and this year they have Six Hags which offers a giant jumping pillow, a spider web and the Maze of Mahem. I have yet to do Breakfast with a Witch but I hear that it’s a great time as well.
Those are some of my favorites! I am going to be checking out some more places this year and hope to have more to tell you next year. Here is a list of other fun events going down in Salt Lake County:
Fear Con– October 28 – 29, Salt Palace Convention Center
Nightmare on 13th-320 W 1300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah
Castle of Chaos– 7980 South State Street, Midvale, UT, 84047
Review: I did this with some friends for my birthday and had a blast! We had 10 of us in the group which was fun, but I think it would have been better with fewer people. Be prepared to work your brain!
